From April 7 to May 10, 2018, WIA Philanthropy, in collaboration with the firm Roland Berger, will identify and select innovative and ingenious African women entrepreneurs from 54 countries on the African continent.

During the summer, an international jury will then select the 54 winners of the 2018 promotion. Women Entrepreneurs and Innovation: Leveraging Africa’s Development

If today the African continent has the highest rate of business creation for women (27%), the new generation of African women needs more than ever to be accompanied and networked to express its tremendous potential for an innovative and inclusive Africa.

7 of the 10 fastest-growing countries in the world are in Africa. In this respect, supporting women who disrupt the continent’s future through technological innovation is a win-win and sustainable investment for African and international economies.

WIA Philanthropy aims to reveal and accelerate the development of high-potential young women entrepreneurs by integrating them into the WIA Entrepreneurs’ Club to benefit from all the services of accompaniment and media coverage offered by this exclusive club.

The 2017 promotion: 16 entrepreneurs from 10 African countries

WIA Philanthropy received 260 applications within 6 weeks of a call for projects from 10 African countries. The 16 winners were networked with international leaders and investors at the African Revelations Night at the Marrakech World Summit. Six of them pitched their project on stage, benefiting from pan-African media coverage, which allowed them to attract investors and see the development of their projects accelerate.

The benefit of being around purpose-driven women is priceless. Women in Africa gave me the opportunity to network and learn from successful women entrepreneurs and leaders from across the globe whom I have stayed in touch and has helped me gain more opportunities” Cynthia Mene, CEO and Founder of Inspire Africa, Promotion 2017 WIA Entrepreneurs’ Club.
